Job Description:
People Project is recruiting on behalf of a growing mining company operating in Tanzania. As part of its continued expansion, the company is seeking an experienced MEP & Facilities Manager to oversee the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facilities infrastructure supporting its mineral processing operations and remote site facilities.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an engineering professional with strong maintenance leadership experience to drive operational reliability, infrastructure performance, and continuous improvement across a dynamic mining environment.
The MEP & Facilities Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facilities systems supporting the processing plant, workshops, accommodation, offices, utilities, and associated site infrastructure.
The successful candidate will lead maintenance activities, optimize asset performance, manage technical teams, and ensure compliance with engineering standards, health and safety regulations, and operational best practices.

General Responsibilities:

Engineering & Maintenance Management

  • Lead all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and facilities maintenance activities across the mining operation.
  • Ensure the reliable operation and maintenance of generators, electrical distribution systems, pumps, motors, water supply systems, workshops, accommodation facilities, and other critical infrastructure.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.
  • Maintain comprehensive maintenance records, asset registers, inspection reports, and equipment histories.
  • Diagnose equipment faults, coordinate timely repairs, and minimize operational downtime through effective maintenance planning.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new plant equipment, utilities, and site infrastructure.

Facilities & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of offices, workshops, accommodation camps, warehouses, and other site buildings.
  • Manage boreholes, storage tanks, water distribution networks, drainage systems, sanitation facilities, and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Ensure all utilities and support services remain operational to support uninterrupted plant and site activities.
  • Monitor and improve facility performance while maintaining high standards of housekeeping and infrastructure integrity.

Asset Reliability & Utilities Management

  • Monitor fuel, electricity, and water consumption and implement initiatives to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
  • Ensure adequate inventory levels of critical spare parts, maintenance materials, tools, and consumables.
  • Review equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, energy efficiency, and asset lifespan.
Project Coordination & Technical Support
  • Review mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings, technical specifications, bills of quantities, and contractor submissions.
  • Coordinate engineering contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications.
  • Support infrastructure upgrades, plant expansion projects, and engineering improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure the technical quality and compliance of engineering installations and maintenance works.
Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities comply with occupational health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
  • Enforce permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures, confined space entry, and other critical safety controls.
  • Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action follow-ups.
  • Ensure electrical installations, lifting equipment, pressure systems, fire protection systems, and utilities remain compliant with relevant engineering standards.

Budgeting & Performance Management

  • Prepare annual maintenance budgets, work plans, and resource forecasts.
  • Monitor maintenance expenditure and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising reliability or safety.
  • Produce weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance performance reports, including equipment availability, downtime analysis, and maintenance KPIs.

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise electricians, mechanics, plumbers, technicians, and maintenance personnel.
  • Manage contractor performance, ensuring quality workmanship and adherence to project timelines.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, technical excellence, and continuous skills development within the engineering team.
  • Conduct workforce planning, performance reviews, coaching, and employee development initiatives.
