Job Description:

People Project Co. Limited is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Site Manager – Stone Crushing Plant to oversee the day-to-day operations of a stone crushing and screening plant located in Msata, Tanzania, approximately 130 km from Dar es Salaam.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and continuous plant operations, achieving production targets, managing the site workforce, coordinating equipment maintenance, and ensuring compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental requirements.

This is a hands-on, site-based management position suited to an experienced professional with a strong background in stone crushing, quarrying, mining, aggregates or related industrial operations, combined with proven workforce and personnel management experience.

General Responsibilities:

Plant & Production Operations

  • Oversee daily crushing, screening and aggregate production activities.
  • Ensure production targets, quality standards and operational schedules are achieved.
  • Monitor the performance of crushers, vibrating screens, conveyors and other plant equipment.
  • Coordinate plant start-up, shutdown and daily operating activities.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to improve productivity.
  • Monitor plant utilization, production output and operational efficiency.

Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance of crushing and screening equipment.
  • Work closely with mechanics, electricians and equipment operators to identify and resolve breakdowns.
  • Troubleshoot common equipment and operational issues and escalate major technical problems when required.
  • Minimize plant downtime through effective maintenance planning and rapid response to breakdowns.
  • Monitor the availability and use of fuel, lubricants, spare parts and other operational materials.

Team & Personnel Management

  • Directly supervise approximately 20–30 employees, including operators, mechanics, electricians and general labourers.
  • Prepare staff rosters, shifts and daily work assignments.
  • Monitor attendance, punctuality, leave and employee performance.
  • Handle day-to-day employee relations and workplace disciplinary matters.
  • Coordinate basic recruitment and replacement requirements with management/HR.
  • Ensure employees understand and comply with site rules, procedures and performance expectations.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability and professional conduct across the site.

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Enforce all site health and safety requirements.
  • Ensure appropriate PPE is available and consistently used.
  • Monitor dust suppression and other environmental control measures.
  • Ensure safe operation of heavy machinery and crushing equipment.
  • Monitor quarry and working-area conditions, including slope stability and other site hazards.
  • Conduct or participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings and incident reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable mining, occupational health and safety and environmental requirements.
  • Support government or regulatory inspections when required.

Stock, Loading & Dispatch

  • Monitor finished aggregate stock levels, including different stone sizes/products such as 05, 12 and 13 stones.
  • Coordinate loading and dispatch activities with the sales/commercial team.
  • Ensure accurate monitoring of production, stock movement and dispatch.
  • Minimize stock discrepancies and ensure efficient utilization of storage areas

Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare and submit daily production reports to the Plant Director.
  • Report production volumes, plant downtime and reasons for downtime.
  • Monitor fuel, power and other key operational consumption.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, shifts, production and operational activities.
  • Escalate significant operational, personnel, safety or equipment issues promptly to the Plant Director.
  • Provide recommendations to improve productivity, cost control and operational efficiency.

Community & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as the first point of contact for routine local community matters affecting site operations.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with surrounding communities.
  • Support management during government, regulatory or other official inspections.
  • Escalate significant community or regulatory matters to the Plant Director.

Essential Criteria: 

Previous Experience working with Chinese Management Teams is an added advantage.
